COVER SIDEBAR- No sleight of hand: Thacker lost after 30 years
Published January 9, 2003, in issue #0201 of the Hook
Scottsville has the distinction of being so small that election to government offices (of which there are many) is hotly contested. In 1996, for the first time in 30 years, Scottsville voters didn't get to see Raymon Thacker's name on the ballot. At the eleventh hour, he suddenly decided to enter the race as a write-in candidate, but magician Robert Spencer won the three-way contest that time.
